Visiting Children’s Homes – Zala County Child Protection Center – August 2022

In mid-August, we had the pleasure of visiting the Zala County Child Protection Center headquarters in Zalaegerszeg. We were warmly welcomed, not only by the young residents of the children’s home but also by representatives of the local media. The preschool children delighted us with a charming performance, reciting poems and singing songs, and presented us with handmade gifts as tokens of appreciation. Following this heartwarming welcome, the director of the institution gave us a tour of the recently renovated children’s home. The facility, which has the capacity to care for 40 children, currently houses the youngest residents, including a special group dedicated to infant care, while preschool-aged children fill the home with energy and joy. The director and staff work tirelessly to ensure the children live in a nurturing and homely environment. To support this, their donation request included children’s furniture to further enhance the common rooms.

The institution cares for a total of 200 children across several locations, so efforts were made to ensure that other homes in Nagykanizsa, Letenye, Zalaszentgrót, and Lenti also received a portion of the donation. It is evident that creating a homely, well-organized environment for the children is a top priority. As such, the requested items included children’s furniture, shelving units, corner sofas, beds, shoe cabinets, dining chairs, a dining set, and a gas stove.
