Visiting Children’s Homes – Somogy County Child Protection Center – July 2022
2022. July 08.
During our visit to Somogy County, we had the opportunity to visit the Somogy County Child Protection Center, where two institutions each received a donation of 1.5 million forints from our foundation. The Nyár Street Children’s and Aftercare Home in Kaposvár emphasizes channeling the children’s energy into constructive activities, with a strong focus on music and sports. Group music has become a cherished tradition, with both children and staff enthusiastically participating in practice sessions, even performing at local events on occasion.
Our donation was intended to further support these creative initiatives. We provided a range of musical equipment, including a guitar set, a drum kit, a keyboard, a mixing console, a Bluetooth speaker, and various wooden instruments. After watching videos of their performances, we feel confident that these instruments will be put to excellent use.
In addition to supporting their musical endeavors, we also aimed to expand their opportunities for physical activity by donating sports equipment. This included a pull-up bar, a punching bag, boxing gloves, a dumbbell set, a foosball table, a ping pong set, and five bicycles. The staff mentioned that they frequently organize trips, including cycling tours, and were thrilled that more children will now have the chance to participate. The foosball table was an immediate hit, with the boys eagerly assembling it on the spot.
We spent a delightful afternoon with the children and staff, who showed us warm hospitality. It was evident that the dedicated team at this center does everything they can to help the children in their care. Their commitment to motivating the children is clear, whether through organizing cooking competitions or talent shows, or creating a kitchen garden together.
