Visiting Children’s Homes – Csongrád-Csanád County, Dr. Waltner Károly Home and Residential Unit No. 1 – June 2022

The Dr. Waltner Károly Home is an institution offering both social care services and child protection programs. Its core mission is to offer comprehensive care for intellectually disabled children and adults who are either unable or only partially able to care for themselves.

Our Foundation has maintained a relationship with the child protection program for several years, regularly delivering donations. This time, we visited their children’s home in Makó.

The residential facility, a family-style house, is located in a quiet neighborhood not far from the town center. We were warmly welcomed by the deputy director, the head of the home, and a few of the children, who gratefully received the donations. These donations included practical household items such as cleaning equipment, a color printer, an air purifier, kitchen appliances, and dining furniture. We also made sure to provide fun additions like garden swings and a swimming pool for the children to enjoy.

The caregivers shared that the laptops we provided in 2020 to support online learning during the COVID pandemic were “lifesavers” and continue to be valuable tools for the children’s studies. To further support their education, we donated additional laptops this time, ensuring that every child has access to the necessary resources.
