Training for Children’s Home Workers – Online Safety and Cyberbullying – April 20, 2023
2023. April 28.
In April, we hosted our second training day at the headquarters of the Docler Holding Group, continuing our mission to provide foster home workers with practical knowledge they can apply in their daily work. This session focused on the unique challenges posed by a digital childhood and the online world. The day began with a presentation from one of Hungary’s leading children’s rights experts, Dr. Szilvia Gyurkó, founder of the Hintalovon Foundation. Dr. Gyurkó explored how children’s relationships with the digital world develop across different stages of growth, highlighting both the risks and opportunities they encounter online. She also emphasized the critical role that parents and caregivers play in guiding children through this evolving landscape. Following Dr. Gyurkó, psychologist Gergő Villányi, who has extensive experience in the field of digital psychology, provided a deeper dive into the impact of the online world on human relationships. He touched on digital trends and concepts that may be unfamiliar to adults due to
generational gaps, offering insight into how these trends shape young people’s interactions and behaviors. After a lunch break, the final session of the day focused on practical strategies to manage the growing influence of the digital world on children. Led by Fruzsina Balogh, head of the Connected Parenting Association, the presentation provided tangible methods that caregivers can incorporate into their everyday lives. Fruzsina also stressed the importance of care, attention, and the small gestures of support that professionals offer to children, underscoring how vital these acts are in fostering a safe and healthy environment. We hope that the foster home staff left this session with new and valuable insights that will help them navigate the challenges of the digital age. We look forward to introducing more engaging topics in our future training days and to welcoming even more professionals to join us!
