Supporting the Dr. Ámbédkar School’s IT courses– March 2024
2024. March 14.
We have previously supported the Dr. Ámbédkar School in Miskolc to help sustain its essential educational mission. The school provides high-quality education for disadvantaged Roma youth, opportunities they might not receive elsewhere under segregated conditions. As a second-chance school, its mission extends beyond completing primary education, aiming instead to guide students toward earning a high school diploma and potentially a vocational qualification. Through this transformative approach, the school seeks to empower students to shift their social status and break free from the challenges of disadvantage.
A cornerstone of their education model is equipping students with relevant, 21st-century knowledge that enables them to pursue higher studies and succeed in the job market. Reflecting this goal, the school’s curriculum focuses on reform pedagogical methods, prioritizing English, modern sciences, and information technology. Last year, we supported one of the school’s IT projects, in which an external IT specialist worked regularly with the students. Building on this success, our foundation has committed to continuing this support in 2024, funding the salary of a local IT professional selected by the school from March to June to implement a comprehensive training program.
Despite the school’s dedicated and impactful work, it faces continuous financial challenges. With minimal state support, the institution relies heavily on donations to sustain its operations. We hope that with our ongoing support, these deserving young people will continue to access the high-quality education they need, paving the way for meaningful social integration.
