RESEARCH

The Foundation’s approach is that the basis for effective assistance is professional foundation. To facilitate this, within the framework of a national survey conducted in the years of 2020 and 2021, the Foundation mapped the education and everyday needs of the children living in children’s homes within the framework of the child care system.
The main goal of the research is to draw attention to the different needs of children raised in children’s homes and residential homes, within the entire child protection system. Children raised without a family find it more difficult to build social relationships due to deficiencies in attachment and family patterns, and their educational characteristics remain significantly below national figures and below the overall figures of the child protection system. Their vulnerability to early school leaving is increased, and the number of class repetitions is many times higher than the national average. With regard to their highest level of education, they leave the education system with low qualifications, which further worsens their chances in the labor market and the realization of a self-constructed life path. Yet they see their future positively, cherishing ambitious dreams in both further education and the highest educational attainment. They want to live well and hope for a good (better) future, which is our duty to support them in seizing inner faith.
In the long run, the Foundation’s further goal with research is to examine the effectiveness and efficiency of the implemented programs by continuous monitoring.
In addition to putting help on a professional foundation, the explicit goal of the Research Study is to raise social awareness, which goes beyond atypical patterns of behavior on the surface and reveals the underlying content, alleviating the distinctions underlying social stereotypes. Both the full and the abbreviated version of the Research Study is available to everyone, and we encourage all non-governmental organizations, heads of institutions and entrepreneurs to think together professionally and to implement joint projects. The Foundation intends to share and disseminate current and future research findings to a wide range of audience, contributing to the knowledge of disadvantaged children at the societal level and the potential for broad social assistance along the way.
