Regional Teqball Cup for Children’s Homes – September 2022

In early September, we proudly organized the Gattyán Foundation’s Regional Teqball Cup for Children’s Homes at three different locations. Building on the success of the first Teqball Cup held in Budapest in April, we expanded the event regionally to give more children from rural areas the opportunity to participate.

The competitions were hosted at the Eszterházy György Children’s Home in Bakonyoszlop, the Kossuth Zsuzsa Children’s Home in Bicske, and a local sports field in Hajdúszoboszló.

Each event followed a similar format, welcoming not only children eager to compete but also those interested in learning about Teqball and those who came to cheer on their peers. To ensure as many children as possible had the chance to experience the sport, professional Teqball coaches led practice sessions throughout the morning. After lunch, the competitions began, with age categories for 14–18-year-olds, under 14, and over 18.

At every location, the atmosphere was electric, with intense matches and highly skilled competitors. The excitement was further amplified by enthusiastic supporters, creating a lively and motivating environment. In recognition of their achievements, the top three teams in each category were awarded trophies, medals, and valuable gift vouchers from Decathlon and DRK. Following the awards ceremony, another eagerly awaited event took place: the raffle. Each participant who registered for the tournament received a raffle ticket and a gift package from the Foundation and Teqball. Supporters were also able to increase their chances of winning by participating in a Teqball quiz, adding an extra layer of fun and friendly competition while learning more about the sport and the Gattyán Foundation.

More than 200 children from various children’s homes across the country participated in the three events, practicing Teqball and enjoying a day full of sportsmanship and camaraderie. We hope that the experience left lasting memories and encouraged more children to engage in physical activity and embrace a healthier lifestyle. Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that plans are already underway to host the National Teqball Cup in Budapest this November, where we look forward to welcoming equally enthusiastic and determined competitors and supporters.
