Partnering with the Sütni Jó! Foundation – December 2023

The Sütni Jó! Foundation was founded by Alex Galamb, a young man from Borsod who has become a true role model through his inspiring life journey and dedication. Coming from a disadvantaged Roma background, Alex faced life’s challenges early on. However, through hard work and perseverance, he overcame deep poverty, became a certified baker and pastry chef, and created his foundation to introduce underprivileged children to this profession. His mission is to offer them a path to a fulfilling and self-sufficient life.

Alongside his work as a baker, Alex has also established a training workshop where he regularly works with local children. In the summer, our foundation contributed 200,000 Forints toward renovating this workshop, which led to discussions about a potential long-

term collaboration. Having grown up in a children’s home, Alex understands firsthand the reality faced by those in state care. His unique experience and dedication make him an ideal mentor, and together, we aim to offer children regular opportunities to participate in his bakery sessions.

We were delighted to attend the first session ourselves to meet both Alex and the young “baker apprentices.” Enthusiastic students from the Dr. Ámbédkar School in Miskolc, as well as young residents from a group home in Felsőzsolca, joined us. The teenagers eagerly dove into the work, creating a joyful atmosphere as they quickly prepared 150 brioche rolls. Naturally, they enjoyed the fruits of their labor right away! We hope that this hands-on experience, and the delicious outcome, will further inspire them and that they, along with other young people from nearby children’s homes, will continue to join Alex’s training sessions.
