Donation to a Ukrainian Refugee Camp – Debrecen-Erdőspuszta – May 2022

One of the most important aspects of the Russo-Ukrainian war is the humanitarian crisis caused by the fights – not only in terms of the civilian casualties of the war, but also in terms of the masses fleeing the country.

The life of children and families is getting harder day by day as no one is safe. Since 24 February 2022, millions of children have been forced to flee their homes and millions of children also live in Ukraine as internal refugees. As the clashes worsen, so does the number of refugees and those in need of emergency assistance.

In response to the refugee crisis created by the Russo-Ukrainian war, the Dorkász Service Foundation launched a relief operation in several areas and opened Dorkász Reception Center to families forced to flee their homes due to the war, where hundreds of refugees can be accommodated in its Erdőspuszta camp. Dorkász not only provides them with accommodation and food, but also helps them in their spiritual care and so that the refugees who come here can find work as soon as possible. Hungarian and Ukrainian refugees from Transcarpathia also come here, but some have come from the interior of Ukraine, near Kyiv. Mainly families and children come to the camp and Dorkász provides them with education and sports facilities.

To this end, in addition to the Teqball table, which is deservedly popular among children, our Foundation handed over a collection of sports equipment worth about one million forints, which included a ping-pong table, almost all the sports equipment needed for ball games, and even a trampoline. During the handover of the donations, we got to know a lot of children who happily welcomed everything and spent a meaningful morning trying out the games.
