2nd National Teqball Cup for Children’s Homes – November 2022

On November 19-20, the Gattyán Foundation proudly organized the second National Teqball Cup for Children’s Homes this year. Following the success of the first national tournament in April and three regional competitions, the sports-loving children eagerly anticipated another opportunity to showcase their skills. Over 10 institutions participated, with boys and girls aged 14-18 coming together for what was another exciting and memorable weekend.

Saturday was dedicated to preparation and practice. Professional trainers worked closely with the children, helping them hone their skills and prepare for the competition. The kids practiced various game scenarios on eight Teqball tables, set up across four groups. Thematic training sessions allowed them to master new teqniques, and many were so enthusiastic they didn’t want to stop practicing.

Children who traveled from farther away were accommodated in a nearby hotel, while those from Budapest-based institutions returned to the Teqball Arena early Sunday morning for the main event.

Sunday began with the distribution of personalized jerseys, providing each participant with a lasting memento to wear during the competition and take home afterward. The tournament format followed a group stage, with the top four players from each group advancing to the knockout rounds. The competition then narrowed down to the top 16 pairs.

A special highlight awaited the top eight pairs, as the Gattyán Foundation invited guest players to join them. These guests were former contestants from Exatlon Hungary previous season, who teamed up with the kids as coaches, offering guidance and encouragement throughout the competition.

The top three pairs were awarded medals, certificates, trophies, and DRK shopping vouchers. However, the most exciting prize for the children was the Infinity Teqball team signing them and granting professional licenses to participate in the 2023 national

championships. The Gattyán Foundation will cover all associated expenses, including travel, registration fees, and player costs.

1st place: Dominik Bangó – Gábor Fodor (Budapest) 2nd place: Martin Bangó – Richárd Balázs (Budapest/Kecskemét) 3rd place: Kevin Lakatos – Róbert Bóni (Bicske)

We were thrilled to witness the remarkable improvement in each child’s performance and the enthusiasm and sportsmanship they brought to the event. By the end of the competition, we saw matches played at a truly professional level, and we hope that their passion for Teqball will continue to grow in the future.
