Garden Grant 2023 – Our Special Prize Winners

Our Garden Grant program ran successfully through summer into autumn, allowing 10 children’s home centers to beautify their surroundings. During our site visits, we saw how delighted these homes were to have the opportunity to enhance their gardens based on their unique needs. With the 200,000 HUF grant, the institutes accomplished a variety of projects, including raised beds, vegetable gardens, orchards, flower gardens, and even a greenhouse. A core aim of the grant was to involve the children in the work, encouraging a deeper appreciation for and connection to their environment. Reports indicated enthusiastic participation from young people across all centers who enjoyed being part of the gardening activities.

To further recognize their efforts, we awarded special prizes to the top three institutions, granting cash awards they can freely use.

The gardening teams from the top three institutions were:

– 1st Place: Child Protection Center of Bács-Kiskun County – Dunavecsei Unit Prize: 100,000 HUF

– 2nd Place: Child Protection Center of Pest County – Szivárvány Special Children’s Home Prize: 70,000 HUF

– 3rd Place: Child Protection Center of Heves County – Szitakötő and Fátyolka Residential Homes Prize: 50,000 HUF
