III. Children’s Homes National Teqball Cup – May 2023

For the third year in a row, The Gattyán Foundation invited children from various regions of the country, currently living in children’s homes, to participate in a sporty and exciting weekend, testing their Teqball skills. The two-day event kicked off with a special group training session on the first day, once again guided by professional sports trainers. After lunch, the children and their chaperones enjoyed a memorable outing to the Division 1 match between FTC and DVSC at Groupama Arena, a wonderful bonus for all the participants.

Sunday was dedicated to competition, as the children paired up to play round-robin matches in three groups. After several intense games, the tournament progressed to the afternoon’s knockout stage, overseen by referees from the Hungarian Teqball Federation.

The competition was dominated by the Kossuth Zsuzsa Children’s Home from Bicske, who secured all three podium positions. Their coach, Tamás Jurkiewicz, a former resident of aftercare homes, discovered his passion for Teqball just a year and a half ago. Now a registered competitor, he enthusiastically shares his knowledge and love for the sport with the younger generation back home.

Looking ahead, we are planning two regional tournaments, and later this year, we will once again invite children from across the country to participate in the upcoming IV. Children’s Homes National Teqball Cup.
