Visiting Children’s Homes – Pest County Child Protection Center – August 2022

We began August with a visit to the Pest County Child Protection Center, where we met the young residents of the Nagykőrös residential homes. The Nagykőrös facility includes a children’s home, along with separate residential homes for boys and girls. During our visit, we learned that both homes share a spacious yard, and when we arrived, the children were enjoying time together in the garden area, which had been provided by the foundation. The head of the institution shared that they strive to organize as many activities as possible to ensure that the young people make productive use of their free time, especially during the summer months. Additionally, there is a specialized children’s home in the town that accommodates 15 boys. Given the unique challenges of managing the boys’ energy levels, the staff requested specific items such as a punching bag, boxing gloves, and emotional intelligence development games to support their efforts.

Although the various locations within the county are relatively spread out, the institution maintains a strong commitment to working closely together. A central goal in assembling the donations was to encourage the children to spend quality time outdoors. The items delivered included a garden grill, a pool, two wooden garden benches, a beer bench set, several six-person garden furniture sets, bicycles, garden swings, basketballs, soccer balls, and a basketball hoop. We hope that these donations will enhance the children’s free time and provide them with opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities to the fullest.
