National cooking competition for young chefs from children’s homes – October 2024

The 17th National Cooking Competition, held in Somogy county, provided a special opportunity for young people raised in children’s homes to showcase their culinary talents. Once again, the event took place at Nagyszakács, an ideal venue that allowed the young chefs to prepare their dishes in an outdoor setting, creating a unique and vibrant atmosphere.

This year, nine children’s homes from across the country participated. Each small team was challenged to design and prepare a menu inspired by a fairy tale. In addition to evaluating the dishes themselves, the judges also considered the creativity of the table setting, the chefs’ attire, and the use of a special, challenging ingredient provided on-site. Our Foundation was proud to be a part of this year’s event as one of the three members of the judging panel.

It was an honor to be invited, and we thoroughly enjoyed tasting the exceptional dishes. We can confidently say that the young chefs truly impressed us. Each team presented beautifully prepared dishes and thoughtfully arranged tables, showing a high level of care and attention to detail. Both the children and their accompanying adults demonstrated great creativity and enthusiasm throughout the event.

At the conclusion of the competition, every participant was recognized for their efforts, ensuring that everyone left not only with valuable memories but also with well-deserved rewards. We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of this wonderful tradition and look forward to future editions of this inspiring event!
