Minibus Donation I – August 2025

This spring, our Foundation announced its Minibus Grant for the first time—an initiative inspired by the donation campaign launched last Christmas. Thanks to the generosity of our Founder, we were given the opportunity to provide a truly significant contribution to child protection institutions.

Through this grant, our aim was to create new opportunities for children in state care by supporting their everyday lives and helping their social and cultural inclusion. Throughout our work, we have repeatedly observed that one of the most critical shortages in children’s homes is the lack of safe and sufficient transportation. This challenge not only affects children’s daily routines but also greatly limits the range of extracurricular and leisure activities available to them.

The grant was designed to reduce these disadvantages by providing each selected children’s home with a new, safe, and spacious minibus for indefinite use. Interest in the program was extremely high, as every child protection institution submitted an application. The submissions clearly confirmed the pressing need for reliable vehicles. As a result, instead of the originally planned 8 minibuses, a total of 10 brand-new Ford Transit minibuses were donated.

The ceremonial handover took place at the Normafa Hotel at the end of August, on the final day of our End-of-Summer Camp. The directors of the winning institutions personally received the keys and official documents, and they were even able to bring the camp’s children home in their new vehicles. As part of this large-scale donation, our Foundation covers each institution’s insurance costs, nationwide highway tolls, and up to 100,000 HUF of fuel per month.

It was truly moving to witness the joy and gratitude of the institutional staff and children, for whom these vehicles—and the support covering their maintenance—represent a tremendous help. We trust that thanks to this minibus donation, the living conditions and opportunities of all affected children in state care will significantly improve.
