Experience Grant 2024 – Up the Hill, Down the Valley!

The second holiday of our 2024 Experience Grant took place in July, offering a group from the Child Protection Center of Bács-Kiskun County the chance to explore the beautiful surroundings of Lake Fertő. The group, consisting of 20 children and 5 guardians, spent five days based in Fertőboz, near Sopron, providing them easy access to local landmarks and attractions.

The adventure began with an active start as the group cycled around Lake Fertő, followed by a thrilling kayaking excursion. They also participated in a team-building activity, which provided fascinating insights into the local wetlands’ unique ecosystem. The rich itinerary also included a visit to Sopron, where the young participants explored the city’s main attractions and learned about its vibrant history.

The following day, the group visited the Esterházy Palace, where a professional guide shared the captivating history of the palace and its opulent interiors, as well as the storied past of the Esterházy family. The children were particularly taken by the grand rooms and the stunning palace park, which they explored aboard a charming miniature train.

On the final day, the focus shifted to fun and excitement. The children tested their skills at the Sopron bobsled track before heading to Lővér pool, where they joyfully splashed around. Of course, no trip would be complete without indulging in delicious lángos (fried dough) and ice cream.

According to the organizers and guardians, the children returned with many new experiences, remaining enthusiastic and curious throughout the trip. Beyond creating personal memories, the positive impact on the community was also clearly evident.
