Training for children’s home staff – Inspiring motivation in children – June 6, 2024
2024. June 21.
At the beginning of June, we held our third training of the year, focusing on the important topics of child participation and motivation.
The first speaker was Dr. Szilvia Gyurkó, founder of the Hintalovon Foundation and a renowned children’s rights expert. She provided a comprehensive overview of child participation, discussing its significance and the challenges of specialized care, while sharing real-life situations experienced in children’s homes.
Next, Ferenc Novák, a teacher, behavioral researcher in education, and founder of the website gyerekneveles.hu, took the stage. He guided the audience from the basics of understanding teenage behavior to more in-depth insights. Drawing on his experience in the children’s home environment, he illustrated theoretical concepts with practical examples, helping professionals better apply what they learned in their day-to-day work.
The third session featured two experts from the Dr. Ámbédkar School in Miskolc: János Orsós, the school’s founder, and Tibor Derdák, its director. They discussed the challenges faced by Roma youth, both educational and social, and shared their valuable experiences in addressing these issues. Their presentation had a profound impact on the attendees, as many of the topics discussed are also part of their daily work.
After lunch, one of the country’s most renowned educators, Jocó bácsi (József Balatoni), delivered an inspiring talk on the situation of today’s youth, focusing on their perspectives and needs. In the second half of his session, he was joined by Moni Lisa Tibenszky, founder
of the Responsible Parents’ School, for a more informal discussion on motivating teenagers.
Based on feedback, staff from the children’s homes once again gained a wealth of useful knowledge, and we hope this will positively impact their work. With summer being one of the busiest times for institutions, the next round of professional training will resume in September. We look forward to welcoming many interested professionals once again!
